Buy Yourself a Ford EV in Pennsylvania

If you live in the Lancaster, or Quarryville area, we hope you will consider shopping with us here at Susquehanna Ford. We know that we consistently have the best options for our customers, including the latest models from Ford. This includes all of the latest EV models that you’ve likely heard about by now, such as models like the Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lighting, and Maverick. We have done everything possible to provide you with the options you have been waiting for, but what happens after you have already purchased an EV from us? These are typically vehicles that people have never driven before, and with that comes a new set of rules that it is important for everyone to learn. A key element here is what happens at electric charging stations, as they are usually things that you have never had to deal with before owning an EV! Below, we want to discuss key etiquette that you should be following, and it will make everyone’s lives that much easier.

Can I park in an EV Charging space?

The easy answer to this question is no, you should never just park in a Charging space, even if you own an electric vehicle. Many people are tempted to because oftentimes these charging stations are located near popular destinations like shopping malls. However, charging stations should only ever be utilized by people who actively need to charge their vehicles, because if they don’t have access to these stations, then maybe they can’t continue on with their trip like they intended to. The more we all work together to respect these spaces, and understand what they’re for, the more easily everything will flow through that allows charging stations to be for charging, and nothing else!

Do I have to follow the signs around a charging station?

Every charging station you come across on your journeys has the opportunity to have slightly different rules. That’s why it’s so important to pay attention to your surroundings and to take in what is happening around you. Some of these signs could include limits to how long you are allowed to be charging your EV! This is usually something like 90 minutes or 2 hours, and you really should be following that guidance as much as possible. There are a lot of people out there, and they could be waiting for a spot to open up. We’re all in this together!

Can I unplug someone else’s EV?

If there is one rule that you should absolutely be following when utilizing a charging station it is to never unplug someone else’s vehicle. That’s the kind of action that should not be perpetrated, and if you put yourself in their shoes, then it’s easy to understand why that would be such a horrible thing to do. Patience is always key, and as long as everyone follows the rules, then there is no reason to cross boundaries like that. Remember, if one charging station is full, then we recommend opening up an EV station app and seeing what else is available in your area!
